#1 Formula for Happiness

Most people are unhappy because we are not getting what we want in reality.

I feel that unhappiness usually occurs when there is a gap between what we expect and what is actually happening. Our own personal Expectations is not becoming Reality.

If you flip it other way around:

Happiness occurs when our own personal Expectations = Reality.

Which leaves us two solutions to gain happiness.

  1. Not have any expectations, so immediately Expectations = Reality
  2. Eliminate the gap between expectations, so the Expectations = Reality

If you ask Buddha, you’ll most likely be recommended the first option of not having any attachments, no expectations and thus no suffering. You will reach happiness if you accept reality, and see many things in life as a temporary life sequence, coming and going, based on the law of impermanence.

I agree, to a certain extent, we must learn to accept, perceive and detach ourselves from certain outcomes and to be happy with where we are in our life right now. It is one of the teachings I learnt from my 10 day silent meditation I experienced at Vipassana.

But I feel there is something more. I feel that we should be happy with where we are right now but also have the choice to choose what we want, what is important to us and to choose what makes us happy. I like to trust the Universe but also to create my own destiny.

Come join me on this journey, to be happy with where you are right now, yet looking forward and being positively open to the next best thing to come, in your life:
